So I thought that you all might enjoy reading this; I know it's crazy long, but it's pretty awesome!!! (If I do say so myself....lol)
To Whom It May Concern:
This letter shall serve as my official resignation. It pains me to leave Panera. I have been with this company for the majority of my working-life and I have truly enjoyed most of that time. I love what Panera states that it stands for. I love (most of) the people that I work with. I love helping guests. I love the atmosphere. However, I do not love the way that Panera has come to make me feel. I do not love that I dread coming to work everyday. And I especially do not love the fact that when I do get to work, my fears are most often validated as I am constantly treated as inferior. I had initially hoped that my situation here would get better; that I would be protected from retaliation; that discrimination would be eradicated; that I might be trusted to do my job, as I had previously been doing; that I would not be treated like an Associate. For my own self-worth, my own sanity, and my own pride, I can no longer continue to work here.
I cannot work for a company that promotes me to Supervisor and then constantly treats me as an Associate.
I cannot work for a company that daily deploys me, a Supervisor, on the line.
I cannot work as a Supervisor if I will never be allowed to be in charge of anything.
I cannot work for a company that tolerates discrimination the way that you all have.
I cannot work for a company that tolerates sexual harassment against its employees the way that you all have.
I cannot work for a company that allows certain managers and employees to break the rules but harshly punishes others for doing the same things.
I cannot work for a company that treats its employees the way that you all have done.
I cannot work for a company that allows certain managers to sit in the office for the majority of their shifts (including during the lunch rush).
I cannot work for a company that promotes managers who are not properly trained to run the store, let alone work in all modules.
I cannot work for a company that tries to cover up its upper-management's heinous mistakes.
I cannot work for a company that promotes unqualified people, but does not promote those who are truly deserving of said promotions.
I cannot work for a company that pays under-qualified Supervisors more than those who actually know what they are doing (and are certified in more than one area).
I cannot work for a company that allows its religious ideologies to oppress the beliefs of others.
I cannot work for a company that rewards employees who suck up and turns a blind eye to those who are not, but are actually performing their jobs in ways that are far superior.
I cannot work for a company that is "run" by people like Diana.
I cannot work for a company that is headed by people like Jacob.
Having said all this, I bid you farewell. However, I would truly appreciate it if Patrick could send me the results of the investigation he has conducted, as I am not sure if my fight against Panera is over yet. You, as my employers, had a responsibility to protect me from unlawful discrimination and retaliation and have done, as far as I can see, absolutely nothing of the sort. I would like to think that this was a one-time problem that you all have had, but I know for a fact that I am not the only person in this company that has been treated unfairly as a result of their sexuality. I truly hope that in some way you let this serve as a lesson. I hope that you think twice before you treat anyone unfairly in the future. I hope that this never happens again.
